21 Ice Cream Nail Designs

We are so thankful that the summer has finally hit. We’re dusting off those summer sandals we’ve been waiting to wear for so many months, and we’ve finally shaved our legs too … (Did we really just say that out loud?!) It’s time to start paying attention. Sun’s out, and it’s time to summer-theme everything we own. It won’t be long before that sunny weather is a distant memory once again, particularly if you live in good old Britain!

Anyway, before the sun does decide to go back in again, we’ve decided to celebrate the summer in style with some nail designs that might just have you licking your lips … and running after the tinkle of the ice cream man in his van.

1 – Pointed Drip Ice Cream Nail Designs

If pointed nails are your thing, you might just love these pointed drip ice cream nail designs. As far as nail designs go, this has got to be one of the easiest, and can be customised to suit a number of different occasions. If this pretty mint green colour wasn’t quite your thing, just change it up for a different background shade. You could even opt for a contrasting glitter, rather than a matching one too. Then it’s just a case of adding those drips, and then throwing a few sprinkles on top. Because no ice cream would be complete without sprinkles.

2 – 3D Ice Cream Nail Designs

Pointed nails make the perfect base for what looks like the ice cream cone of your ice cream nail designs, and that leaves you free to decorate the top – the actual ice cream – in whichever way you see fit. Add fruits, puffy and textured / 3D nail features, plenty of glitter, whatever you like really. There are so many ways you can decorate them, and this fabulous design is just one example. What would you have on yours?

3 – Sprinkles on Top

When you have adorable nails like these ice cream nail designs, you’re going to want to have really adorable lookin’ hands for all those photos you plan on taking. One of the simplest things you can do, and something that you should be doing everyday anyway, is moisturising. Opt for creamy-based moisturisers rather than clear ones. The latter are usually marketed as antibacterial, but these are actually very drying on the skin on your hands. If you are going to use these clear gels, make sure you use a good moisturiser afterwards. This will stop your hands from drying out, but it’ll also help to protect those luscious nails too.

4 – Ice Creams, Ice Creams, Ice Creams

One of the easiest ways to achieve a look like this is to use a nail stamp, either than or small ice cream shaped nail decals / transfers. They’re going to be mighty fiddly to hand-draw each and every one of the delicious treats you can see on these ice cream nail designs, although if you’ve got the time and patience to do it, we salute you. We love decal and transfers because they’re easy and simple, and also easy to switch up whenever you feel the need to also.

In case you’re looking for some ice cream nail designs and decals of your own, here’s a few that we have found:

5 – Chocolate & Vanilla Ice Cream Nail Designs

What’s your favourite flavour? Chocolate or vanilla? Perhaps a melt-in-the-mouth mix of the two? Pick your favourite and get creative, making the ice cream of your dreams right there on your hands. Ice cream contains fewer calories when you’re wearing it rather than eating it! 😉

6 – Glitter-Tastic Ice Cream Nails

Different coloured glitter pieces against a lighter / white backdrop really does make for great sprinkles when you’re on the hunt for ice cream nail designs that really stand out. By doing that, you could actually keep the ice cream designs themselves quite muted. If you didn’t want to have an actual ice cream on your nails, but still incorporate some of that cold goodness, we reckon these are the kind of nails you should look to for inspiration. Do you agree?

7 – Pastel Lollies

As if you ever needed an excuse to avoid doing the dishes, washing the dishes in really hot water is actually very bad. This applies to both the skin on your hands as well as your nails. There, you’re definitely going to need to unload the job on to someone else now.

When you submerge your hands in really hot water, you are washing away some of that naturally occurring sebum. This is the oil that forms on your hands to protect the surface on the skin, and it needs to be there in order to prevent it from drying out.

8 – Lolly, Lolly, Lolly Nails

Nail transfers and decals really do make life easier when you want to play around with new and interesting designs, particularly if you’re not at the whole hand-painting business. We regularly use these cute little designs on our talons, and we pick them up in the strangest of places too. We’ve found adorable mermaid themed ones in Poundstores / 99p-style shops. There are plenty of Amazon too. Actually, while we’re on the subject, there are some of the really cute ice cream nail designs and decals / transfers we’ve spotted below … Just in case you wanted to make life easier for yourself and fake it like we do! 😉

9 – Pink + White Ice Cream Nail Designs

If you use just one moisturising product on your hands when you’re rocking ice cream nail designs like these, make sure it’s oil-based. Oil-based products are much more easily absorbed into the skin, meaning that any nutrients and goodness get to where they need to be quickly. If you have a nail appointment later on that day, for example, get things kick-started in the morning with something like Sally Hansen’s Vitamin E Nail and Cuticle Oil which contains plenty of vitamin E to sort out a multitude of nail problems.

10 – Spotty Ice Cream Nail Designs

Spots and ice creams just go hand in hand … Okay, we made that rule up, but we love these ice cream nail designs anyway. Pastel shades work really well if you’re looking for a light and summery nail look. Add some cute factor with a smiley face on your ice cream!

11 – Cute Ice Creams + Cupcakes

Did you know that ice cream has been around for so long, we don’t actually know where it first came from? There is evidence that people in Ancient Greek times may have eaten something similar, and that was as far back as the fifth century, BC. The first actual parlour to sell ice cream was apparently reported to have been in New York City, and it was a long time ago – back in 1776!

Now that we’ve got that nice little fact out the way, check out these stunning ice creams and cupcakes nail design! They’re cute and they contain all of our favourite things. It’s a winning combination if you ask us!

12 – Mint Green Textured Ice Cream Nails

Are you in the mood for an ice cream fact? We’re going to tell you anyway, while you’re checking out these fabulous ice cream nail designs. Vanilla is the most popular flavour around the world, holding close to thirty percent of the entire market. The two flavours that fall behind that one recopies and cream and mint chocolate chip. Our favourite is mint chocolate chip, just like these nails. What’s yours?

13 – Glossy + Short Ice Cream Nails

It doesn’t matter how blooming fantastic your ice cream nail designs are, bad cuticles will instantly make them look less than perfect. Did you know that cutting out cuticles is actually bad for them? It opens them up for bacteria to get in, and this can lead to multiple infections. If you have problem cuticles, try looking at an appropriate product for the job, rather than hacking them away? Sally Hansen offers an Instant Cuticle Remover which essentially dissolves them away.

14 – Pastel Pretties

Do you know how much stuff goes into making your ice cream? You probably should, especially if you eat as much as we do here in the CherryCherryBeauty den. For just one gallon of ice cream (just over 4.5 litres), 12 pounds of milk is required. However, these days you’re actually more likely to be eating sorbet-style ones instead.

Whatever ice cream you choose to eat, eat it in style with ice cream nail designs like this one. And if you want to bring us donuts with our ice cream, we won’t complain in the slightest! 😉

15 – Pink n’ Sprinkled Ice Cream Nail Designs

We know that the sun is finally here and you want to run out there and enjoy it for as long as you can, but the sun can be very damaging to both your hands and your nails. You should wear sunscreen on your hands, but not just any old regular sunscreen. The skin on your hands can actually dry out with regular sun cream, so we would recommend using a hand cream that has been combined with a sun protection factor, giving you one product that does two jobs in one. AHAVA offers an Age Perfecting Hand Cream with SPF 15 in it, and we would definitely recommend checking out something similar to incorporate into your hand and nail care regime.

16 – Swirly Ice Cream, Cakes + Donuts

Do you have nail wraps? You could easily use those as the backing for your ice cream nail designs, painting your fabulous ice creams over the top. You could even layer nail accessories – decals over nail wraps, for example, remember to use a decent base and top coat to keep everything in the places that you want them. We’re totally head over heels in love with these cute designs, and they’re making us hungry too.

17 – Watercolour Ice Cream Nail Designs

With watercolour looks such as this one, a little bit of mess is almost to be expected, but you can help to fight back against that with something like OPI’s Correct & Clean Up Refillable Pen. We love the one because it’s refillable – you get one replacement tip in the box, and it does the trick quite nicely.

Alternatively, you can put something like liquid latex or petroleum jelly around your nails, on your skin, before you start painting. Once the manicure process is finished and everything has dried, you can peel off the liquid latex, or wash off the petroleum jelly, taking your mess and spills with it.

18 – Glitter Embellished Ice Cream Nails

We’ve actually come across a really good tip if you’re looking for hand, nail and cuticle cream with a difference … Just use your face cream instead! Something like L’Oreal’s Paris Revitalift Day Cream is a great place to start, containing retinol which has been said to help combat old-hand syndrome. This is otherwise known as crepe-y skin, dry patches, and even darker sun spots. If you have dry and crepe-like skin, use the cream on your hands over night. For an extra special treat, smother the cream on and then place your hands in moisturising gloves overnight. They’ll feel as soft as a baby’s butt the next day.

19 – American Ice Cream Nail Designs

The United States lead the market for eating ice cream, and according to a few studies that have gone on over the years, over 26 litres of ice cream are eaten by every person in the USA per year. Behind the USA comes in Australia in second place, with 18 litres per person, per year, and then New Zealand in second place, with 23 litres of ice cream per person, per year.

It’s quite a lot of ice cream, and we’re celebrating in true style with these USA flag and ice cream nail designs. Are they making you feel a little patriotic?

20 – Blue Ice Cream + Sprinkles

If you want a simple and easy ice cream look that you can complete in almost no time at all, a simple base coat with sprinkles over the top is a definite winner. It just takes a few simple brush strokes to recreate those hundreds and thousands, and it gives you the opportunity to play around with some of those shades in your nail polish box that you haven’t used in a while.

21 – Nude + Simple Ice Cream Nail Designs

Last but certainly not least, we come to these super cute nude and simple ice cream nail designs, perfect for those who want to get ready in a hurry, using stuff that they’ve already got to hand. A nude nail polish starts this look, above the base coat, of course. Add some glitter, and you could layer it up with different shades / sizes of glitter if you wanted your nails to really stand out. Leave one nail free that will become your featured nail, and get to work on your best ice cream design. Alternatively, use a decal or transfer to cheat the look and give yourself longer in bed!
