We love Halloween – it’s the time of year you can get away with wearing ridiculous outfits, and getting together with your BAE to try and outdo each other on who can rock their costume the best. In case you’re having a little trouble trying to think of something the two of you can dress up, we’re bringing you some of the best couple’s Halloween costume ideas, but feel free to let us know your couple’s costumes too! We can’t wait to get started on our costumes, and we can’t wait to see what you lovely lot come up with too.
So, for those of you lucky enough to be in a relationship, here’s some of the coolest ideas:
With the recent Suicide Squad movie coming out, the couple on everyone’s lips is, of course, none other than the delectable Harley Quinn and her ‘Romeo’, the Joker. It’s a simple enough couple’s Halloween costume to recreate, and the even better news is that there are a few different ways you can recreate it. You have the classic Harley Quinn and Joker look that you can see here, or you could rock that gold and black dress from the movie that everyone was obsessed with, and the Joker wore a big purple jacket in some of the scenes.
There are plenty of options to choose from, and that’s half the fun with these couple’s Halloween costumes – you can put your own spin on it to make it unique to you and your BAE.
We are one hundred percent in love with this couple’s Halloween costume – Pokemon inspired, of course! And what’s not to love about it – didn’t he need to work to Poke-catch you in the first place?
The costumes themselves are actually very simple – the girl is wearing a Pikachu outfit here, but you could recreate whatever character was your Poke-favourite. And he’s wearing a classic white shirt, jeans and a Pokemon hat. You really couldn’t get much more simpler than that, and if you wanted to, you could always make it more complicated and creative too.
Either way, this is one Halloween costume idea we definitely LOVE!
In classic superhero style, Superman flies in and saves Lois Lane from whatever dodgy situation she happens to find herself in. If you don’t feel like being dastardly this year, save the world instead, and go as your favourite superhero + damsel in distress.
The easiest way to wear this outfit is for your man to have a plain and simple Superman tee underneath his regular office-style clothes. Add the glasses and the dark slicked-back hair and what do you have? Superman ready to be Superman whenever the situation should require it.
Lois Lane is best represented with that sexy-secretary look – white shirt, ironed to perfection, a black A-line skirt, killer court heels, and some super adorable glasses that you can get for cheap in your local pound / 99p-style store. (Or dollar store, if you’re in the America’s – hello over there!)
You really can’t go wrong with The Addams Family, can you? They’re everything Halloween is meant to be about – just the right amount of evil and sass. We love them, and we definitely love this Morticia and Gomez Addams couple’s Halloween costume, styled to perfection.
Let’s face it, this is an easy couple’s Halloween costume to recreate too – those black gothic dresses are easy enough to pick up online, and he just needs to wear a black pinstripe suit which you could even trawl the charity shops for. Add plenty of black eye makeup, white face makeup, and red lipstick and what do you have? A killer couple’s costume, that’s what!
Batman and Catwoman, what a combination. Probably a classic combination when you’re checking out couple’s Halloween costume ideas, and a super-flattering one too, because everyone knows that black is such a flattering colour!
The good news about this look is that you can wear a mask – perfect for when you really can’t be bothered with all that thick makeup. We all know some of those costumes can be super hot to wear, especially when you’re dancing and drinking a little too. Or a lot.
The Mexican’s celebrate Halloween slightly differently to the rest of us. They have a similar event, but it’s not celebrated on the last day of October. Instead, they have Días de los Muertos, translated as ‘Day of the Dead’, and it’s celebrated on the 1st of November – All Saints’ Day to Christians.
The day after – November 2nd – they continue to celebrate, a day that we call All Souls’ Day. During the two day festivities, people dress up in ghostly and spooky costumes and run up and down the streets. A bit like trick or treating, just without the treats!
The Day of the Dead makeup is very popular for Halloween, and if you feel like getting a bit creative, create your couple’s Halloween costume ideas around it – it’s a good excuse for a face-painting frenzy if nothing else!
The Purge: Election Year came out recently, and we thought it was a brilliant movie. We’ve seen all three now (well, most of us), and we quite like them. What are your opinions?
Getting back to the topic of couple’s Halloween costume ideas, what about The Purge-themed? There are three movies to pick from now, so plenty of characters to try and recreate, and most of them are bloodied regular clothes with a face mask which, of course, makes it even easier.
The Shining – a classic Halloween movie, don’t you think? And when you think about, what better couple’s Halloween costume ideas could you come up with? It’s simple, to the point, and definitely terrifying.
All work and no play …
We probably wouldn’t recommend walking the streets with an axe and a baseball bat, but inflatables aren’t a bad idea if you really want to recreate the look. Plus it gives you an excuse to watch the movie to get costume inspiration … As if you spook-lovers needed an excuse!
If you want a more modern fancy dress idea for Halloween this year, what about dressing up as the characters from one of the most talked-about shows of our generation – Sons of Anarchy. It took the world by storm and with the right patchwork on a leather waistcoat, this is a costume that will go down a right treat.
Get creative with black eyeliner to recreate the body tattoos, or even go all-out and get transfers that’ll probably last for a little while longer. You should definitely get creative though, mostly because we can’t wait to see what you come up with! Who’s your favourite SOA character? We’d want to be Gemma, obviously.
Cards Against Humanity is the biggest game right now, and every time we log into Facebook we seem to see another party hosting a games night, with this one being the main attraction. If you’re a lover of the game, or just need a simple couple’s Halloween costume idea, why not consider this one? It would be easy enough to make!
You could make up whatever words you liked for the cards themselves, or even play a really brave game and pick a couple from the box, going with the first ones you come across. As we said, that might be a very brave choice …
No one really knows how long Halloween has been around for because there are so many early reports of similar festivities, but some experts believe that it’s been around for six thousand years. Early celebrations were reported to have taken place in 4000BC.
Alice in Wonderland is a classic for Halloween, especially the Mad Hatter and Alice – a couple’s Halloween costume that’s bound to be very well received. The fancy dress shop is your best bet for these beauties – they’re not easy to make from home (as we learned the hard way.) It gives you plenty of chances to get creative though – come up with your own spooky version of her – zombie Alice, for example? We’d love to see that!
What else is Halloween made for other than dressing up? Drinking, of course! That’s why we love this Jack Daniels and Coke themed couple’s Halloween costume – one that thinks slightly outside the box.
These days you can buy Jack Daniels and Coke logo t-shirts and other items of clothing, and that makes this costume idea a lot easier. It’s super-simple and super-cute – perfect for those last minute costumes that you shouldn’t have left to the last minute …
How about a little bit of X-Men? If you have a man with a fabulous head of hair, we can’t think why you wouldn’t want your very own Wolverine for the night, and let’s face it, who doesn’t want to be Halle Berry / Storm?
To be fair, we’d rather dress up as Wolverine and Storm than some of the costumes that the Ancient Romans reported. Those records suggest that ancient tribes coming from France and Germany once wore the heads of actual animals on their heads, and perhaps even the skins of them too. We bet they got stinky quick!
“Run, Forrest, Run!” Although, to be fair, he has no reason to run away with this amazing fancy dress costume. What a great idea, and a very simple one too. It’s not too much, doesn’t require too much in the way of shopping or makeup, but people would instantly recognise who you were meant to be dressed up as!
As always, if you wanted to go that one step further, you could always ‘The Walking Dead’ this costume up and make it more zombie-like. How about Forrest Gump with some liquid latex and a cleverly created gruesome slash or broken bones.
One of the biggest Halloween celebrations around the world is in New York City … of course! It’s not only the largest parade, it draws in some of the biggest crowds – in some cases over two million visitors from across the globe. Around fifty thousand people take part in the actual parade every year, making it a must-see if you’re into the whole American All Hallow’s Eve shenanigans.
When you’re up against that many other people, you’re going to want a couple’s Halloween costume that’s colourful and really stands out from the crowd, and what batter than with this bright and bold Mario and Princess Peach couple’s costume idea, both simple and marvellously brilliant at the same time.
His outfit is very simple – jeans, a red tee, ribbon used for braces, and the hat. Her outfit is again, very simple – a pink tutu, a pink top (or leotard), a crown and a wand, both of which could probably be made at home. You could even get the kids involved!
You might think it was Salem who could call themselves the ‘Halloween capitals’ from around the world, but there are actually three places who like to think they hold that title, and all three of them are in the USA.
Massachusetts and Anoka (in Minnesota) also like to call themselves the ‘Halloween capitals’, so we’ll let you make your own mind up. In the process though, check out this adorable couple’s Halloween costume:
Hunting is a very on-trend topic right now, and if you want a costume that’s bound to get people talking, what about deer and hunter couple’s Halloween costume ideas? Alternatively, fox, bear, and even sexy hunter if you wanted to switch roles.
Be prepared that some people may find this offensive – you’re either for hunting, or against it remember, but it’s definitely a nice and simple one if you have camouflage stuff to hand.
We love cookies, we love the Cookie Monster, therefore we love this Halloween costume idea – the Cookie Monster and his cookie! It’s definitely one that’ll get people talking, and you may just win best-dressed!
Hong Kong has their own version of Halloween, and they call it Yue Lan. This translates to ‘Festival of the Hungry Ghosts’, and is every bit as ghost and ghoul obsessed as it is in other places around the world.
They’ll make food, dress up, and offer gifts to the angry ghosts in a bid to keep them slightly friendlier. On the one night of the year where the bad guys can come to town, it makes sense to try and keep them happy … right? Offer up your cookie!
What brilliant and very unique couple’s Halloween costume ideas – puppets on a string! With the right face paint, and some handy woodworking skills, you could turn up to the party with your puppet master.
Believe it or not, trick or treating isn’t a new thing, although it was stopped for a while in the 1930’s before being reinvented as the sweet-hauling exercise we see today. Back in the early Halloween days, men and children would dress up in ghostly and spooky costumes, knocking from door to door, begging for treats. In some cases they were even expected to dance and sing on the doorstep. Talk about singing for your supper.
So here’s a fun fact, before you decide to dress up as a black cat for Halloween this year, there’s actually a sad story surrounding black cats and Halloween. There are some shelters out there who won’t allow the adoption of a black feline friend around this spooky time of the year for fear they’ll be sacrificed or used in Halloween pranks.
Remember kids – a cat is for like, not just for Halloween. There are plenty of other amazing Halloween costumes you could go for if I’ve just broken your heart with the black cat story, and we reckon this 90’s inspired Pulp Fiction look is definitely one you should think about!
It’s Cinderella, but not quite as you’ll have seen her before. We’re so used to seeing her in all her blue-gowned glory, but there’s something very amazing about this simple rags-to-riches costume, and if you want to get really extravagant about it, you could always change costumes at midnight.
That’s right, what a talking piece for the party. You could turn up with your Prince Charming in your beautiful blue Cinderella dress, complete with glass slippers, and then at midnight when your coach turns into a pumpkin, and your horsemen all turn into mice, you could go back to rags-Cinders. Smart, right?
The whole tradition of dressing up for Halloween is actually down to the Celtics. All these festivities – we have those guys to thank for it! It was believed that if they dressed up as all things Halloween and scary, they would be able to walk the streets without being noticed by the actual ghost and ghouls – a bit like when the guys in The Walking Dead disguise themselves as walkers in order to move around undetected. It’s a good plan, right?
Talking of The Walking Dead, how do you feel about this couple’s Halloween costume idea? We love the show, and we also think the costumes would be easy enough to recreate. It would simply be a case of finding your favourite character (or the one you think the most alike), and going from there. We would also recommend binge-watching all the past episodes too … obviously.
And there you have them – 21 of the best Halloween couple’s costume ideas to get started with. Have you come up with a genius costume idea this year? We can’t wait to see it! Make sure you take plenty of photos, and tag us with #CherryCherryBeauty. If we love what you’ve done, we’ll feature we!
